ATLANTA, Ga. (May 24, 2018) – IMG College Licensing today announced a multi-year extension of its partnership with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the commencement of a new partnership with NC State University to manage each school’s trademark licensing program. The new NC State agreement has an initial term of four years, while the new UNC-Chapel Hill agreement extends the partnership until 2025.
In a unique collaboration, IMG College Licensing was selected through a Request for Proposal issued jointly by the two universities. Though each institution made its own decision based on university-specific criteria, it marked the first time the universities have teamed together in the management of their brands.
“IMG College Licensing’s strategic brand management, trademark enforcement and innovative data analysis will serve NC State well in accelerating our licensing program to higher levels,” said Gregg Zarnstorff, Director of Trademark Licensing for NC State. “Utilizing their expertise and systems will allow us to align product, licensees, and retailers in providing quality NC State Wolfpack merchandise to our alumni, fans, and supporters.”
Both NC State and UNC-Chapel Hill have access to IMG College Licensing’s innovative tools and systems, as well as customized retail strategies and national brand protection network, to assist in managing and marketing their licensing programs.

UNC-Chapel Hill, which has been a partner of IMG College Licensing since 1982, is coming off three consecutive years of royalty revenue growth, with a record year in fiscal year 2017 following its basketball National Championship. Carolina merchandise is carried in more than 3,600 retailers across the globe.
IMG College Licensing currently represents the trademark licensing rights of nearly 200 colleges, universities, bowl games, athletic conferences, the NCAA, the College Football Playoff and other college sports properties.
