IMG Partners with 13 Universities to Deliver Unique Educational Experience at New York Fashion Week: The Shows

ATLANTA, GA (February 14, 2019) – In a continued effort to support innovation and the development of future leaders in the fashion industry, IMG College Licensing and IMG’s fashion events division collaborated to provide a one-of-a-kind educational experience for 17 students from 13 universities at this February’s New York Fashion Week. This unique academic enrichment program provided a behind-the-scenes look at the fashion industry, including entry into select runway shows, panel discussions and networking opportunities with industry leaders, as well as on-the-job shadowing with retailers and collegiate licensees.
 
The students were treated to two NYFW runway shows, Concept Korea and Amelia Wang, as well as a backstage tour of the production and execution of a fashion show. As IMG continued to lead the charge for diversity and inclusion in fashion, the students were treated to “Passion Meets Purpose,” a panel discussion presented by Tresemme that spotlighted inspirational women, including designer Carly Cushnie, stylist/consultant Meredith Koop and Constance C.R. White, editor & author of How to Slay.

In addition to the experiences at New York Fashion Week: The Shows, students spent time with key staff at PINK, a collegiate licensee and leading women’s retailer, for abehind-the-scenes look at a major fashion brand, and they explored the world of retail buying and merchandising with representatives from Bloomingdale’s.
 
The program delivered unique academic enrichment opportunities for the students with costs covered by the universities.Institutions that participated in the collegiate enrichment program at NYFW: The Shows included University of Arizona, University of Arkansas, University of Delaware, Eastern Illinois University, Illinois State, LSU, Michigan State University, Penn State, University of South Carolina, TCU, University of Tennessee, Texas A&M, and West Virginia University.

Participating students chronicled their experiences through social media using #UofNYFW and have been asked to share their learnings with other students upon their return to campus.
