ATLANTA, GA, (AUGUST 29, 2017) – The sounds and smells of tailgates, drumlines echoing from pep rallies and stadiums, and alumni groups and fans gathering in cities nationwide to showcase pride in their newest school gear signals that college football season has returned.
On Friday, September 1, the 13th
annual College Colors Day will culminate months of fans’ budding optimism and excitement for the new season, as students, alumni and fans all come together as one to cheer on their school through thick and thin all season long.
Through Facebook Frames, Snapchat filters, an Instagram style quiz and Twitter hashtags, fans can show off their school spirit and pride to tell the world about the greatness of their school’s fandom. This year’s theme, “United We Fan,” highlights the emotional connection fans have not only to their school, but also to fellow fans when they see each other wearing the same name and colors, no matter the location.
Beginning Tuesday, August 1, fans can visit www.CollegeColorsDay.com
for 30 days of college gear giveaways and a chance to win prizes such as watches, tailgate games, hats and apparel. Through the website, fans will also have a chance to register for the chance to win one of two all-expenses-paid trips to the College Football Playoff (CFP) National Championship in Atlanta, Georgia. CFP and its charitable arm, the College Football Playoff Foundation, will provide the tickets to the game. The primary focus of the Foundation is teachers, expressed through the Extra Yard for Teachers cause brand. The mission of Extra Yard for Teachers is to elevate the teaching profession by inspiring and empowering quality teachers.
By sharing their own photos and stories across social media using #UnitedWeFan and #CollegeColors throughout the month of August, fans will have the chance to win brand new gear just by showing their school spirit. Starting in late August, fans will be able to add a custom school frame to their Facebook profile provided by the school’s official athletic page. As the excitement builds to a crescendo nearing September 1, professional athletes, models, broadcast hosts, music artists and other social influencers will join fans in their social sharing of school pride. Last year’s College Colors Day featured more than 75 different personalities beaming with school spirit.
With IMG College Licensing (IMGCL) representing the trademark licensing programs of more than 150 of the nation’s leading universities, the annual celebration is dedicated to promoting the traditions and spirit that embody the college experience. College Colors Day is celebrated by thousands of organizations, retailers, classrooms and millions of individuals who don their team colors and share their school spirit with friends and colleagues.
