CLC Extends Partnership with the University of Arizona

Tuesday, August 25, 2015

ATLANTA, Ga. — The Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), the licensing affiliate of IMG College, today announced a multi-year extension of its partnership with the University of Arizona to continue managing the school’s highly successful trademark licensing program.
Since partnering with CLC in 1984, Arizona has generated nearly $24 million in licensing revenues. The school’s licensing royalties have increased 60% in the past five years. Arizona is in the midst of its sixth consecutive year of record royalties.
This year, among CLC’s university partners, Arizona has generated the second highest percentage royalty increase, and the fifth highest dollar increase.
“The Arizona trademarks and licensing program has enjoyed unprecedented success in recent years,” said Teri Lucie Thompson, SVP of University Relations and chief marketing officer, the University of Arizona. “Our students, alumni, donors, and fans have more choices and opportunities to ‘wear the colors’ and support students through their purchases. We are pleased to continue our partnership with CLC as we continue to grow this program.”
“Arizona licensing has tremendous momentum and is among the nation’s fastest-growing collegiate licensing programs,” said Cory Moss, SVP and managing director, CLC. “The university has thoughtfully managed its licensee base and was one of the first to adopt a Product Category Management (PCM) centered brand philosophy in 2003. There’s now more Arizona licensed merchandise in the retail market than at any other time in the program’s history, and sales growth has followed.”
Officially licensed product for the Wildcats is now sold at 1,500 retail locations. New retailers carrying product include Amazon, Costco, Zappos, Kitson, Cracker Barrel, Walgreen’s, Best Buy, VS PINK, Target and The Buckle.
CLC, the leading collegiate licensing agency in the U.S., signed or extended its licensing agreements with more than 50 partner institutions in 2014. CLC currently represents nearly 200 collegiate institutions, including 29 Bowl games and the College Football Playoff.
